Jobseekers from the Ilocos Sur province and nearby municipalities can choose from different vacancies – professionals, skilled, BPO jobs and others – on June 12 as the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 1 holds jobs fair on that day to commemorate the 116th Philippine Independence.

DOLE 1 Regional Director Grace Ursua, who will be gracing the occasion, said the jobs fair will be held at the Civic Center in Candon City, Ilocos Sur mainly in partnership with the City Government of Candon.

The jobs fair is part of the Labor agency’s thrust of shortening jobseekers’ search for employment and its way of letting jobseekers find a different meaning in the historic event, that is, being freed from joblessness, the Regional Director told.

“The DOLE works to make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fit their qualifications, interests and career inclinations; while helping employers find the right applicants for their manpower needs,” she said.

She said jobs for professionals, business process outsourcing industry and skilled workers top the vacancies that will be made available by at least 19 local employers and 10 licensed recruitment agencies that will be brought together in the venue.

“One good thing about the Candon City jobs fair is, there are job orders for nurses aside from skilled workers and other professionals,” she added.

One-stop-shop services for pre-employment requirements and workers’ concerns will be provided by Social Security System, Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, National Statistics Office, Civil Service Commission and DOLE family of agencies which include the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Professional Regulation Commission, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, National Conciliation and Mediation Board and National Labor Relations Commission. Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development will be present to attend to concerns relating to Pantawid Pamilya and other programs.

Congressman Eric Singson and Candon City Mayor Ericson Singson who are strong supporters of the government’s employment agenda will be among the guests during the occasion.
