FREE THEORETICAL DRIVINg COURSE CONDUCTED IN SUGPON IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LTO
Sugpon, Ilocos Sur — October 8–9, 2025
A Free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) was successfully conducted in the Municipality of Sugpon, Ilocos Sur through the partnership of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Candon District Office and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sugpon. The two-day training aimed to educate and equip aspiring drivers with essential knowledge on traffic regulations, proper road etiquette, and the responsibilities that come with holding a driver’s license.
The course covered a wide range of topics including traffic signs and signals, defensive driving techniques, driver’s rights and obligations, and the consequences of reckless or impaired driving. Participants were given the opportunity to interact with LTO resource speakers who shared real-life road experiences and clarified common misconceptions about driving laws.
Mayor Daniel C. Laño, Jr. expressed his appreciation for the initiative and extended his gratitude to the LTO Candon Office for bringing the program closer to the people of Sugpon. He emphasized that the training is not just a requirement for obtaining a driver’s license, but a valuable learning experience that promotes road discipline and safety within the community.
“This program will help our residents become more responsible drivers and road users. Through education and awareness, we can minimize accidents and ensure safer travel for everyone,” Mayor Laño remarked during the event.
Municipal employees and residents from different barangays especially high school students actively participated in the course, recognizing it as a helpful step in securing their driver’s license and becoming compliant motorists. The LGU continues to support similar capacity-building activities that contribute to the development and welfare of its constituents.
The Free Theoretical Driving Course is part of LTO’s ongoing advocacy to make road safety education more accessible, especially to those in far-flung municipalities like Sugpon. By extending this service, the agency aims to empower individuals to drive responsibly and confidently, fostering a culture of safety and discipline on Philippine roads.
