LGU Sugpon Joins the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Sugpon, Ilocos Sur — November 6, 2025

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, actively participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held recently as part of the government’s continuing efforts to enhance community preparedness and resilience against disasters. The activity was led by the Sugpon Emergency Response Team (SERT) in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and various municipal offices.

During the drill, LGU employees and office personnel simulated earthquake response procedures — including the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique, safe evacuation, and designated assembly area protocols. The SERT provided on-site guidance and evaluation to ensure that safety measures and evacuation routes were properly observed. This activity aims to test the municipality’s readiness and strengthen coordination among local responders in case of real emergencies.

Municipal officials commended the collective participation of all departments and emphasized the importance of continuous disaster preparedness. They noted that activities like the NSED not only raise awareness but also save lives by ensuring that every Sugponian knows what to do during emergencies. The LGU reaffirmed its commitment to support the national government’s goal of building a disaster-resilient Philippines through regular training, drills, and community awareness programs.
