TB Caravan Brings Free Chest X-ray and BP Monitoring Services to Sugpon Residents

Sugpon, Ilocos Sur — October 23, 2025

The Department of Health–Center for Health Development 1 (DOH-CHD1), through its TB Caravan initiative, successfully held a free chest X-ray and blood pressure monitoring activity in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur. The event was conducted in partnership with the i-Lab Laboratory & Diagnostic Center Mobile Clinic, the Department of Health (DOH), and the Rural Health Unit (RHU), with the support of the Local Government Unit of Sugpon.

The activity aimed to strengthen tuberculosis prevention, early detection, and treatment efforts, while also promoting general health awareness within the community. Residents from different barangays, teaching and non-teaching personnel from local schools, and employees from the Municipal Hall of Sugpon actively participated in the activity.

Through the i-Lab Mobile Clinic, participants were provided free chest X-ray services to screen for tuberculosis and other respiratory conditions. Alongside this, DOH and RHU health workers offered free blood pressure monitoring to help detect and manage hypertension. These services made healthcare more accessible, especially for residents who live far from diagnostic facilities.

The TB Caravan is part of the DOH-CHD1’s continuous campaign to “END TB”—an initiative that seeks to eliminate tuberculosis as a public health threat by ensuring early diagnosis, accessible treatment, and community education. The activity reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the health of every Filipino by bringing essential health services directly to the people.

Health personnel also took the opportunity to remind the public about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, seeking timely medical consultation, and supporting individuals undergoing TB treatment to prevent stigma and encourage recovery.

Through initiatives like the TB Caravan, the DOH and its partners continue to strengthen their mission to build healthier, TB-free communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against tuberculosis.
