Sugpon, Ilocos Sur — November 7, 2025
The TUPAD Orientation was successfully conducted today, November 7, 2025, at the Old Plaza, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sugpon. The activity gathered program beneficiaries from different barangays to provide them with important information about the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) — a short-term employment program designed to help individuals whose livelihoods were affected by calamities or other circumstances.
During the orientation, representatives from DOLE and the LGU discussed the roles, responsibilities, and benefits of the program to ensure proper implementation and transparency. The event also served as an avenue to encourage cooperation and accountability among the beneficiaries as they begin their temporary employment under the TUPAD initiative.
Aside from the orientation, an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity was also conducted. Mr. Narciso T. Tanacio from the Municipal Tourism Office shared updates on Sugpon’s tourism programs, while PSMS Mila T. Pang-oden, WCPD, FJGAD PNCO, delivered a lecture in observance of the National Children’s Month, highlighting the importance of protecting children against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Material (CSAEM).
Municipal Mayor Daniel C. Laño, Jr. also gave a message of support, expressing his appreciation for the continued partnership between DOLE and the LGU in providing livelihood opportunities to Sugponians. The activity reflects the municipality’s commitment to empowering its residents and fostering sustainable community development.
