National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Secretary Lope Santos III met with Sugpon Mayor Daniel Laño Jr. during a courtesy visit in Quezon City, April 4. Secretary Santos and Mayor Laño discussed the latest updates about the proposed priority projects under the Magnificent Magic 7 (MM7) program.
The construction of the Sugpon-Alilem-Suyo Convergence Road and the Sugpon Road, which are both MM7 convergence projects, took the spotlight in the discussions and will connect the municipalities of Kibungan and Bakun in Benguet. These projects aim to boost tourism and agri-economic activities in the region.
Additionally, a range of strategies for improving climate resilience was explored, including the Community-Based Series of Dam initiatives.
NAPC has scheduled capacity-building sessions for the local government units comprising the MM7 in June 2024. These sessions will bolster the abilities of the LGUs to respond effectively to climate-related challenges and promote the development of sustainable solutions.
NAPC Undersecretary Girlie Amarillo, Head Executive Assistant Mary Rose Villaflor and Local Affairs Coordinating and Monitoring Service Ilocos Regional Focal Person and MM7 Project Holder Alecxandrea Dela Cruz took part in the courtesy visit.
